Modern Day Loaves and Fishes!

Bob, Our Fisherman

Bob is 86 years old and loves to fish!  For the past several years, Bob has hosted a fish fry for his birthday.  The catches from his fishing expeditions are used as the main course and Bob invites his friends and family to attend his Birthday Celebration.  At the Fish Fry, Bob charges an entrance fee which he donates to the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home!  He collects this entrance fee in cash and canned goods and travels over from Sudan, Texas to personally deliver these gifts to our Home after his birthday.  This year Bob brought several boxes of canned goods and over $1600 to the Home!  Thank you and Happy Birthday to Bob, our fish fry guy!

Millie is also 86 years old and loves to bake homemade bread and cookies!  Millie came all the way from one of our

Ms. Millie with some of the girls from Teague Cottage

supporting churches in Garden City, Kansas to make homemade bread and cookies for our Residential Homes.  Millie was a welcome visitor to the cottages when she brought her bread dough in and placed them in the oven.  The smell was amazing and the bread tasted even better!  Our children enjoyed homemade bread for dinner and oatmeal cookies for snacks.  Thank you, Ms. Millie, our bread lady!

Two amazing people sharing their gifts with the Home and helping us feed our “masses” – the 54 children in Residential Homes, the 39 moms and 79 children in Single Parent Homes!  And that is our modern day Loaves and Fishes story!

Just a few of the many boxes of groceries that Bob brought us!

Just want to let everyone know Dad just asks if people that come bring at least 1 can of food to be Donated and then several people said they would like to give Cash. The Friends that Donate are such Caring and Giving people is what makes this such a Tremendous success. Its unbelievable how much my Dad enjoys the whole party. Thanks again for your kind words and GOD BLESS each and every one of you for helping the Children.

Yes, thank you! I would encourage others to do something like this. Another lady in McKinney, Texas did a Charity Event Night for us for her birthday! She had donations for appetizers and silent auction items. She invited friends and family and charged an admission fee. All donations went to the Home. It was a great idea!
