A Story that is 66 Years in the Making!

Marissa receives her diploma from Clovis Community College

Marissa Terry entered our Single Parent Homes in September of 2016.  She has been attending Nursing School at Clovis Community College.  She graduated last May with an Associate Degree of Applied Science.  Marissa and her two daughters, Atreaya and Paisley, live at Hope Haven.  Recently, Marissa passed her exam to become a Registered Nurse (RN).  She is currently studying for her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) through the University of New Mexico!

When she came to our program, she was struggling with balancing work, school and single motherhood.   Single Parent Homes helped Marissa with a home, utilities and other living essentials that have helped her focus on her education.  Furthermore, Marissa and her family are able to attend church regularly now.  We are so proud of Marissa and how she is positioning herself to provide for her two beautiful daughters!

Almost 66 years ago, a Christian couple named J.W. and Mary Terry donated 80 acres of land outside of Portales, New Mexico to begin the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home.  Mr. and Mrs. Terry would be thrilled to know that their great granddaughter, Marissa is utilizing the Children’s Home to improve her life and gain a career to support her family!

These are the opportunities that you, our Champion Donors provide for our Single Parent Homes.  Thank you!

What a cool legacy. JW and Mary were my Great Grandparents and I hope that all of us strive to carry on their legacy and help to change lives
