The New Mexico Christian Children’s Home is a private, non-for-profit, Christian organization serving children in need since 1954 and is supported by the generous donations of churches and individuals.  NMCCH currently has three openings:

House Parents

House Parents work a one week on/one week off schedule with 6-12 children (with their own children included in the count.)

Requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age or older
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required
  • A valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Ability and desire to work and live with youth
  • Ability to pass a thorough background check and reference verification procedure in order to determine one’s fitness to satisfactorily and safely care for youth
  • Must be married at least two years
  • Must be willing to be an active member at the Southside Church of Christ in Portales (This is the church home of NMCCH).

4H Farm and Livestock Manager Assistant

The 4H Farm & Livestock Manager Assistant reports directly to the 4H Farm and Livestock Manager
on the organizational chart and to the Campus Manager otherwise. He assists in overseeing the farm
and livestock operations of the Home, teaching boys and girls to work. Safety and education are of
uppermost importance in this instruction. The Farm & Livestock Manager Assistant provides
professional consultations, recommendations, and reports on all farm and livestock operations.

Requirements:

  •  Have a High School education.
  •  Be experienced or knowledgeable in breeding, caring for and raising of livestock.
  •  Have experience or a general working knowledge of 4-H and FFA programs.
  •  Have two or more years experience in farming or know how to operate farm machinery.
  •  Enjoy working with children, relating well and setting a good example as a role model.
  •  Enjoy instructing children in the fundamentals of farming and raising livestock, instilling positive life and career values and a good work ethic.
  •  Be able to keep proper farm records, government papers, and 4-H project books.
  •  Be capable in Public Relations, in speaking to groups or individuals concerning program needs.
  •  Be a person of good moral character, a member in good standing of the local Southside Church of Christ, and be a respected representative of the Home in the community and supporting entities.
  • Be a Christian with clean speech and not indulge in tobacco, liquor or drugs.
  • Be sociable, kind and fair, but also firm and not back up from what is right.
  • Demonstrate good personal financial stewardship, subject to credit bureau verification.
  • Submit to a National Criminal Records Check, abuse clearance and employment verifications, the results of which reveal no record of crimes against children or of moral turpitude or any other factors which would preclude employment from working with children.

Assistant Director to Single Parent Homes

The Assistant Director to Single Parent Homes reports directly to the Director of Single Parent Homes on the organizational chart and to the Executive Director otherwise.  The Assistant Director is a full time hourly, non-exempt position.  The Assistant Director provides professional and ethical services based on Christian models of behavior.

Requirements:

  •  Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or one of the helping professions.
  •  Have experience working or serving in the single parent environment.
  •  Be experienced and have the ability to relate well to children and families.
  •  Be a person of good moral character.
  •  Be a member in good standing of the local Southside Church of Christ.
  •  Be a respected representative of the Home in the community and supporting entities.
  •  Be a Christian in both word and deed and in philosophy of service.
  •  Recognize the need to include the spiritual realm in work with others.
  •  Be a Christian with clean speech and not indulge in tobacco, liquor or drugs.
  •  Be sociable, kind and fair, but also firm and not back up from what is right.
  •  Be able to speak to a church, a group or teach a class for staff improvement.
  • Demonstrate good personal financial stewardship, subject to credit bureau verification.
  •  Submit to a National Criminal Records Check, abuse clearance and employment verifications, the results of which reveal no record of crimes against children or of moral turpitude or any other factors which would preclude employment from working with children.
